“To stand in the bluebell woods with the sunlight streaming through the tree canopy is to stand in nature’s own cathedral”

Mark Eldred artist was born in Hong Kong in 1964 and spent his childhood in rural Norfolk, England. He attended Goldsmiths Art College, London where he received a Batchelor of Arts Honours degree in Fine Art in 1985.

After travelling the world for a number of years it was on a subsequent trip to the west coast of Ireland in 1992 that he found his place. So inspired was he by the unspoilt natural beauty of the Kerry landscape that he decided to make it his home.

“There are still areas of great wilderness in Ireland and to this day I still  feel very fortunate to live here. My paintings are inspired by the seasons as they happen in the landscape, the changes in colour, texture, light and mood are a constant source of inspiration for me”
